The art workshops reflect the collaboration of the Education Department of GHMP with the Botanical Garden of the City of Prague. The resulting works from the creative workshops are thus geared towards an artistic rendering of the entrance to the Fata Morgana greenhouse in the Botanical Garden for the exhibition Butterflies, the Magic of Transformation (7 April – 21 May 2023). Through workshops called Butterfly Time in a Spatial Project, we will focus on the motifs of different butterfly species and on the related themes they represent: lightness, mobility, fragility and airiness. The artwork will focus on working with paper and modelling wire and creating objects in the shape of butterfly wings; we will work with the properties of paper, apply principles of assembly, and experiment with artistic disciplines such as collage and techniques related to it. Participants will focus on creating butterfly-shaped models and further concentrate on their visual aspect in terms of colour and variety. They will find inspiration in the unique pigmentation and patterns of butterfly wings. The creative workshops will also introduce the work of selected artists whose works are present in GHMP’s collections and relate to the theme of butterflies (e.g. Vladimír Boudník, Václav Boštík, Alén Diviš, Jiří John, Naděžda Plíšková, Lev Šimák and Max Švabinský).
This programme is designed not only for adults and seniors, but also for their children and grandchildren as part of an intergenerational encounter. The workshops are also open to foreign visitors.
