A series of workshops entitled Geometry, Prints and Bookbinding will be based on the works of important Czech artists who represent geometric morphology, forms of abstraction, and constructivist art. The art workshops will introduce participants to selected artists who are part of the collection of the GHMP (e.g. Milan Grygar, Stanislav Kolíbal, Radoslav Kratina, Jan Kubíček, František Kyncl, Karel Malich, and Zdeněk Sýkora). During this creative process we will be inspired by the motifs and practices of the selected artists.
During the workshop, we will work with stencils and apply paint – for example, by using the dabbing technique – and then print our own compositions of various shapes on the paper base. Throughout the process of our artistic creation, we will explore a variety of artistic techniques such as automatism, geometric order, crystallisation, and narrative sequencing. The outcome of our creative work will range from original art to applied art. This art workshop will also focus on Japanese bookbinding as a traditional form of joining a book block, whereby we will focus on variations of decorative stitching.
This programme is designed not only for adults and seniors, but also for their children and grandchildren as part of an intergenerational encounter. The workshops are also open to foreign visitors.
