Saturday Art Workshop: Different Narrative Viewpoints / for the exhibition Thinking Through Film

During the art workshops, we will introduce visitors to the exhibition in an interactive and creative way. We will be inspired by the works of artists focused on the medium of film (Ondřej Vavrečka, Lea Petříková, Ján Mančuška), on the art of the moving image (Tomáš Svoboda, Zbyněk Baladrán, Jakub Jansa) or on the area of sound design (S. Pinheiro). We will observe and explore how the presented artists’ works use film language and how it enriches their original artistic concepts. We will explain what classical film montage or editing composition means and how it can influence or transform our perception. We will also explore such topics as how film can be treated as a multidimensional object. Through individual interaction with the works and their subsequent interpretation and discussion, we will confront and compare the many perspectives of the participants in the programme on each specific work. In addition to traditional techniques such as drawing, collage, storyboarding and spatial art, we will employ a wide range of experimental approaches in our artistic responses. Within our exploration of New Media, we will use our own smartphones to make short videos based on a script prepared in advance. We will use the stop motion technique to create short films. We will also incorporate other new technologies such as VR glasses, etc. The workshops will develop visual, informational and media literacy and will promote creative and critical thinking.

Other educational and accompanying programmes will be developed in cooperation with the National Film Archive, NaFilm Museum, AeroSchool, Animania and the Prague Municipal Library. In 2024, a two-day professional conference is planned at the Stone Bell House for educators, lecturers and teachers. The conference will present organisations and projects that deal with linking visual and film art, audiovisual education, and the involvement of New Media in education (e.g. NaFilm, NFA, AeroSchool, Animanie, GHMP and others).
