During the educational programmes and art workshops, we will introduce participants, in an interactive and creative way, to an exhibition that focuses on mapping the changes, development and current state of the Ostrava art scene. We will explain that these changes began in the 1990s, firstly due to society-wide events influenced by the transformation of a once purely industrial region and then by the gradual establishment of local artists on the national and, in some cases, Central European scene. All this created the emergence of one of the most significant local cultural centres. The works of selected Ostrava artists, divided into five thematic sections, will be our source of inspiration.

Through interaction with individual works and their subsequent interpretation and discussion, we will confront and compare the many perspectives of the participants in the programme on each specific work. In terms of artistic responses, we will focus primarily on painting, spatial art and photography. We will also try out experimental and conceptual approaches and other mixed media techniques. Within new media approaches, we will use iPads to create digital paintings, animations or short videos, accompanied by sound. We also plan to run workshops with selected artists. The educational activities will include an interactive zone with self-service elements related to specific works in the exhibition. The educational programmes and art workshops aim to develop visual and digital literacy and encourage creative and critical thinking.
