The art workshops will be directly based on the concept of the exhibition Bruce Weber: My Education, focused on the life and work of the inspirational and world-famous photographer. The art workshops will take place in the photography studio at the Education Centre of the GHMP, where participants will be able to take photos in the style of the photographer’s fashion, film, portrait and lifestyle photographs through photo styling. They can either be loosely inspired by specific photographs or attempt various paraphrases. Professional styling and props will be provided. Thanks to instant photo post-production, we will also work with keying options using a green screen background that will help to achieve a more perfect illusion of photo styling. We will also focus on the phenomenon of classic black-and-white photography, and workshop participants will be able to create their own photographic enlargement in the darkroom. One of the main topics will be the portrait itself and its role, attributes, parameters and forms in fashion, film and advertising photography. We will use reproductions of photographs from the exhibition as well as clippings from newspapers, magazines and promotional materials about art and design. Using collage and a combination of image and text, we will attempt to design a film or advertising poster. New media will also be involved – during all these workshops, participants will have the opportunity to use a wide variety of colouring and shaping techniques to transform reproductions of exhibition photographs or their own portraits with the aid of special apps on iPads.

Throughout the educational programmes, emphasis will be placed on developing media and digital literacy as well as visual sensitivity.
