Saturday Art Workshop: The City and its Detail in Collage and Photography / for the exhibition Jaroslav Beneš: Ex Urbi

During the interactive tours and art workshops, we will be responding to the exhibited work of the artist. The main theme will be the photography of urban reality through its visual details (grids, elements of geometry, the effect of light and reflections). Using the collage technique, we will create abstract compositions in combination with graffiti elements, applying the principles of layering and blending. We will work with both black-and-white and colour photography to create real collages and, using iPads and creative apps, we will also make them in digital form, comparing the possibilities of both approaches.

In the environment of the darkroom at the GHMP Education Centre, we will try our hand at creating classic black-and-white photographic enlargements, which we will then work with in art experiments. Using a digital projector, we will project the resulting collages into the environment of the “white city” installation, which the participants of the art workshop will be able to rebuild and transform in the course of our creation. The resulting installations and the projections will be photographed.
