Tono Stano is one of the best known photographers working in the Central European context. Already during his studies, he developed a characteristic style based on postmodern staged photography – in which the main element is the human, especially female, body. This catalogue, which accompanied the exhibition at the Prague City Gallery, is intended as a “working retrospective”. In addition to figurative compositions, it captures experimental series, conceptual photographs or a reminder of the collaboration with the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.

Publishing by Prague City Gallery

The publication Enter the Room coincides with the exhibition of the same name, organised by Prague City Gallery in the spaces of the Stone Bell House (28 March — 14 September 2025). Its content thus not only focuses on descriptions of the exhibited works or presentations of the participating artists and collectives, but also presents the entire curatorial concept of the project. The core of the book is formed by Ondřej Trhoň and Filip Hauer’s text, which outlines the critical strategies of contemporary game art and thus defines its positions in the broader context of artistic production.

The catalog Silence, Torso, Presence, published on the occasion of Jiří Thýn’s eponymous exhibition held at the House of Photography (29 June to 3 October 2021) includes texts by exhibition curator Sandra Baborovská, photography theorist Mariana Serranová, and art historian Adam Mazur. Like the book, the exhibition Silence, Torso, Presence follows on Thýn’s earlier exhibition Archetypes, Space, Abstraction, held ten years ago at Prague City Gallery’s former spaces on the second floor of Old Town Hall. For that exhibition, Thýn found inspiration in the work of the Cubist sculptor Otto Gutfreund. With Silence, Torso, Presence, he has turned to a leading figure of the interwar avantgarde, Hana Wichterlová (1903–1990). The richly illustrated publication also looks at the exhibition Shape, Work, and Two Fat Bellies, held at the hunt kastner gallery, where Thýn explored the work of the sculptor Alina Szapocznikow.

Jan Jedlička is a painter, draughtsman, printmaker, photographer and filmmaker, but also a walker, observer and medium. His images are above all a record of what he experiences when moving through a landscape, and how the landscape changes. He combines different techniques and media to create multi-layered images of places in a landscape, which he usually monitors over long periods of time. This catalogue to a monographic exhibition at Prague City Gallery’s premises in the Municipal Library is the first to present the full breadth of Jan Jedlička’s art. It is not structured chronologically, but instead maps how he moves through a landscape along the paths of his various creative strategies. Each work is always connected to a particular place and time, and for this reason the selection is arranged according to the three most significant geographical regions he has worked in: the Maremma in Italy, Prague and parts of the British Isles.
