The exhibition Enter the Room explores the influence of gaming environments and storytelling on the creative approaches of the emerging generation, both individuals and gaming collectives. Games today are not just a form of entertainment but also a language, a culture and an important part of art. Their narrative principles and mechanisms open up new ways of thinking about space, time and interaction, helping us to imagine the future and disrupting our established understanding of the world.

Exhibiting artists: BCAAsystem, Jan Boháč & Viktor Dedek & Jonáš Richter, Eloïse Bonneviot & Anne de Boer, Filip Hauer & Philipp Kolychev, Herdek kolektiv, Tomáš Moravanský (INSTITUT INSTITUT), No Fun kolektiv, OMSK Social Club, Lukáš Prokop, Vojtěch Radakulan, Natália Sýkorová & Frederik Britzlmair, Natália Sýkorová & Valéria Dinková, Ondřej Trhoň

Enter the Room interconnects the physical and digital worlds, transforming the gallery into an extended playing field that requires (inter)active participation. It becomes a dynamic “playground” that changes according to how visitors move around in it and what roles they choose to play. The key motif here is the door – a symbol of decisions, possibilities and limits. At the Stone Bell House, doors connect the movement of the visitors to the narrative experience, much like in games. Some are mere textures or decorative elements that only look like doors. Others, however, genuinely function like doors – we can observe what’s going on in the next room or walk through them.

The exhibition continues the tradition of the Biennial of Young Artists, which was launched at the Stone Bell House more than thirty years ago, and, like then, it opens up a space for young artists. It encourages visitors to get actively involved and reflect on the search for their own roles in a changing world. Enter the Room is also a platform for new approaches in art in which games, technology and performance intersect.
