Roman Štětina: Foreword 21. 11. 2018 – 24. 2. 2019
Roman Štětina artfully interlaces motifs, texts, sounds and objects borrowed from various contexts, turning them into complex structures reminiscent of woven textiles which receive new meanings in his videos and installations. His work Foreword, created for the music hall of the Colloredo-Mansfeld Palace, is a visual staging of sound or, more precisely, radio signal, while the interwoven story of this production will present its various physical aspects. For one of the many acts of the staging, the artist creates experimental composition for man’s and woman’s voice/breath, seeking the genesis of sound in human body. Another act will introduce to the “stage design of radio signal”, based on the functional aesthetics of the architectonic details present in recording studios. Other time, Štětina co-operates with the fashion designer Mia Jadrná to create a remarkable design of textiles covering the speakers of historical radio receivers in which radio signal “gets dressed” from the view of listeners.
