Start up: Jiří Hölzel – “UGBADQ” 30. 11. 2017 – 21. 1. 2018
“I have always been fascinated by how impossible it is to reveal, recognize, and decode a poorly functioning system if you have no possibility of comparison.” The work of Jiří Hölzel is based on an artistic observation of the effects of the internet, new media, and virtual reality on society, in particular on members of the youngest generations, for whom the reality of social media is a dominant tool for communication and social interaction. Hölzel explores artistic manipulation as a reflection of social processes by working with the phenomenon of “glitches” – errors and imperfections in the virtual image that he transfers back into physical reality… Jiří Hölzel is a recent graduate of the Faculty of Art and Design at Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem, where he studied interactive media with Pavel Kopřiva.
