František Bílek
Prague City Gallery is the keeper of the bequest and almost entire inheritance of František Bílek (1872−1941), who occupies the foremost position in Czech art of the Symbolism era, not only as an architect but also an author of applied arts, graphic artist, illustrator and religious thinker.
The Gallery is the legal guardian of Bílekʼs unique villa with his studio, situated in the Prague Hradčany District, which it reconstructed and subsequently opened as the Bílek Research and Documentation Centre aimed at the professional public.
The Gallery also maintains Bílekʼs village house in Chýnov near Tábor.
