St Vitus Sculptural Group, Charles Bridge

The present time is witnessing reconstruction and restoration work on the sculptural group of St Vitus on Charles Bridge, above the Malá Strana riverbank. The sculpture, featuring the saint positioned upon a rock formation, surrounded by a pack of miraculously tamed lions, was created in 1714 by the prominent Prague sculptor, Ferdinand Maximilian Brokoff. The current restoration, which will include the cleaning of the whole sculptural group with the use of laser technology, will return to this major artwork by an outstanding sculptor its original aesthetic qualities.
